Abstract

1282331 Melt spinning apparatus BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 29 Jan 1970 [19 Feb 1969] 4286/70 Heading B5B As shown in Fig. 1 an apparatus for the melt spinning of synthetic polymers to form filaments comprises part of a spinning apparatus 2 extending along the lengths of a spinning machine and having a heatable part 1 which is a double walled plate 7 extending along the length of the spinning machine and carrying components 4, 5 and 6. Openings 8 are formed in the plate for accommodating a spinneret assembly 9. The components 4 contain ducts for the spinning melt, the components 5 contain spinning pumps, and the components 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> and 6111 form a heat-conducting bridge 6. All these components bear directly on the smoothly machined upper surface of the plate 7 and consequently heat is readily conducted to them. The components 3 to 5 are covered by the heat bridge 6 to prevent heat being dissipated upwards. The complete spinning apparatus 2 is enclosed by a layer of insulation 10 which is provided with cut-outs below the openings 8 and above the component 3. In order that the component 3 containing the spinneret plates 9 can be easily replaced from above, the heat-conducting bridge 6 is interrupted in the region of these plates and a filling piece 6<SP>11</SP> which can easily be removed upward is inserted in this position. The component 3 has projections 11, which rest on supporting shoulders 12 of the neighbouring components and which are arranged above the junctions 13 of the melt conduits 14, 15. The components 3 are forced against the components 4 by the compression screw 17 mounted in arm 18 of the heating plate 7. In the embodiment of the invention shown in cross-section in Fig. 2 and in plan in Fig. 3, the plate 7 is supplemented on its two sides 23 and 24 by arms 18 and 19 to form a U-section member connected to one another by pipes 27. In both embodiments of the apparatus of the invention the upper horizontally extending part 21 of the plate 7 is provided with ribs 22 to prevent large quantities of condensate film being formed in the underside of the plate 21. The apparatus shown in Fig. 3 is provided with an additional component 28 containing shut-off cock 29 and provided with melt duct communicating through a flexible pipe 30 with a source of melt whereby several components 4 may be supplied with melt.
