Abstract

128,144. Smith, P. Jan. 25, 1919. Travelling-band presses.-In apparatus in which sewage, paper pulp, &c. is delivered from a chamber A on to a travelling-band passing round a drum E and between compression rollers G, the drum E, adjoining pressure rollers F, the rollers G, and guide-rollers I, K are all formed with flanges to prevent the leakage of liquid at their ends and to guide the band. The drum E is driven by means of a chain and sprocket-wheels from one of the rollers G. The roller K is adjusted by means of a screwed shaft L to take up slackness of the band. The upper roller G is mounted in slots G<2> and pressed into contact with the band by means of weights Z operating through levers Y and connecting-rods. A scraper H removes the solid material from the band. Other scrapers H<1> prevent deposit on the drum E and the upper compression roller G, respectively.
