Abstract
1279480 Valves VOITH TURBO KG 11 Dec 1969 [12 Dec 1968] 60504/69 Heading F2V [Also in Division G3] A throttle valve has a piston 6 movable in a cylinder 5 to vary the flow cross-section of an approximately triangular aperture in the cylinder wall. The triangle is formed with a base parallel to the throttling edge of the piston, a side perpendicular to the base and the other side convex towards the inside of the triangle so that the aperture width parallel to the base decreases exponentially with distance from the base. The aperture may be formed of separate smaller apertures and two sides of the triangle may be curved. A roller 19 on the end of an adjustable-length piston rod 15 is actuated by a cable 8 through a cam 9 to give a constant piston stroke the mid-point of which is adjustable.
