Abstract

1,274,849. Golf practising apparatus. PLAYRITE SPORTSGEAR Ltd. 12 Aug., 1969 [26 Aug., 1968], No. 40626/68. Heading A6D. A driving practice apparatus for golfers comprises, when in its operative position, a tripod frame having two legs formed by a substantially inverted V-shaped member, and a third leg coupled to the member's top and extending beyond the plane of the member to form a support from which a golf ball is suspended at the end of a cord. The apparatus shown comprises a tripod frame formed from a V-shaped member 3, 4 and from a leg 5 having golf ball 13 suspended by cord 11 from bush 8. The bush has a concave end 9 to provide a fair-lead for the cord, and is made of a material having a low coefficient of friction with the cord, e.g. Tufrol (Reg. Trade Mark). Leg 5 is pivotally coupled to member 3, 4 to enable the tripod frame to be folded flat. The apparatus includes spikes which may be driven through bushes 15 into the ground to secure the tripod frame. One or more of the spikes may comprise spikes 17, 20, the spike 17 having bush 18 so attached to it that spike 20, when driven through bush 18 into the ground, does not lie parallel to spike 17. Each spike is secured in its respective bush by a threaded stud 16.
