Abstract

1,266,163. Discharging compressed gas cylinders. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 28 July, 1970 [7 Aug., 1969], No. 39638/69. Heading F4P. A compressed gas cylinder 3 continues to deliver through a valve 5 into a consumer line 1 until at a predetermined low cylinder pressure a pressure switch 8 switches a four-way selector valve 10 from the position shown to its other position wherein compressed air is switched from service port B to port C to retract an actuator 7 serving to close valve 5 and open a valve 6 thereby connecting a full cylinder 4 to the consumer line 1 after which empty cylinder 3 is replaced by a full one. The pressure switch may operate a visual or audible alarm. The cylinders may contain ammonia, chlorine, oxygen or hydrocarbons and the system may serve to change them sequentially.
