Abstract

1,265,981. Coating apparatus; coated articles. BAXTER LABORATORIES Inc. 13 May, 1969, No. 24312/69. Headings B2E and B2L. Articles such as gloves 25 of plastics or rubber are dusted with powder by passing the articles through an almost stationary suspension of dust particles in an upwardly moving air stream, the articles being supported directly beneath a hood 26. The air is sucked into the hood by blowers 32 with porous collecting bags 30a, 30b, for the surplus powder, the blower in use being selected by valves 36, 38, and powder is injected into the air stream moving upwardly towards the hood 26 by two laterally directed nozzles 50. The velocity of the upwardly moving stream is set so that the dust particles form an almost stationary dust cloud beneath the hood, through which the gloves 25, supported in rows on projections on lateral bars 14 of an endless conveyor 10, are passed.
