Abstract

126,262. Raedt, J. de. Jan. 24, 1919. Fatty oils, extracting by solvents. In apparatus for extracting fats, oils, sugar, and the like by means of solvents in an oscillated container, the inlets and outlets 5, 13 for the solvent or other fluid are arranged along the top and bottom of the drum 1, and are connected to the main supply pipes P by flexible tubes 10. Filters comprising mats 20 held between perforated plates 19 may be arranged a short distance from the inlets and outlets. Compartments are formed in the drum by porous or perforated plates 18, and steam-heated coils may be arranged below each division. The drum is filled and emptied through doors 21. In the preferred method of working, hot solvent vapour is admitted to the exhausted charged drum before any liquid solvent, and the residual solvent is removed by hot steam generated from air-freed water.
