Abstract

1,262,574. Fume extractor with apparatus support. P. E. SPELTENS. 20 Feb., 1969 [28 Feb., 1968], No. 9318/69. Heading B1X. [Also in Division F4] A suction box intended for collecting and removing noxious gases generated by chemical apparatus 9 in a laboratory, has a suction opening 7 by which gases are withdrawn from the box, and a front wall having an upper portion 2 formed with perforations 12 therein substantially uniformly distributed over the entire surface of said wall portion and serving to allow passage of the gases into the box from the apparatus 9 and to support the apparatus 9 e.g. through rods such as 10 to which the apparatus is clipped at 11. Gases from the apparatus 9 are sucked through the perforations and into the box by a device 4 (in which is the opening 7), and are conveyed therefrom through a duct 8. The device 4 is mounted behind an imperforate lower portion 3 of the front wall, in alignment with an inspection shutter 6. The perforated portion of the front wall may comprise a single panel (as shown), a double panel (Fig. 3) or a grille formed by solid or hollow bars (17 Figs. 4, 5) in which are holes for receiving the support rods 10. The side walls of the box may project forwardly beyond the front wall.
