Abstract

1,261,124. Lasers. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. 22 Sept., 1969 [30 Oct., 1968], No. 46675/69. Heading H1C. The laser active medium 8 and pumping source 9 are mounted via a cradle 6 on a removable cover plate 5 of an enclosure 3. The parallelopiped enclosure 3 is provided with apertures in which a semi-transparent mirror 1 consisting of a plurality of plane dioptric elements and a totally reflecting prism 2 are disposed so that when the cover plate 5 is fitted over aperture 4 of the enclosure 3 they are in line with the YAG laser rod 8. The rod 8 and lamp 9 are mounted in a pump cavity 7 supported by a rod cradle 6. Operation may be c.w. or Q-switched and the active medium 8 may be gaseous or liquid. A plurality of the lasers may be used in an amplifying chain in which case mirrors 1, 2 are replaced by one or two afocal optical lens systems, transparent plates, polarizers or Brewster angle plates.
