Abstract
1,251,828. Niobium base alloy. IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES (KYNOCH) Ltd. Dec.3, 1969 [Dec. 19, 1968], No.60428/68. Heading C7A. A niobium base alloy, with a high yield point and tensile strength at elevated temperatures, comprises in wt. %:- C 0.06 - 0.14 Si 0.01 - 0.1 Hf so that the atomic ratio Hf/C is 1.2-2.2. W 10-30 Mo optionally up to 6 replacing an equiatomic amount of W and Zr optionally up to 4, the balance, apart from impurities, being Nb. The alloy may be solution treated at 1600-1750 C., worked with a 10-50% reduction at 100-800C., and aged at 950-1150C.
