Abstract
1,249,690. Galvanic cell. HELLESENS A/S. 17 April, 1969 [18 April, 1968], No. 19625/69. Heading H1B. A galvanic cell which comprises a metal can closed by a lid-formed contact member embedded in insulating material is characterised in that the insulating sealing material and the said lid are attached between the bent edge of the metal can and a ring-formed or disc-formed supporting member which may be of'metal or plastics and which is fixed along its periphery to the can wall. In one embodiment the cell construction is identical to that of Fig. 2 of the copending application 19624/69 in which the supporting member is ring-shaped and is attached to the inner side of the metal can. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, the supporting member is a flat diaphragm 14 which is integral with and forms the bottom of a canformed top part 15. The top part 15 with contact member 7 and sealing material 16 may be made as a prefabricated unit which is joined to the upper edge of can 17 after the electrically active material has been deposited in the can, for example, by welding or gluing in combination with an outer clamping ring 18. Diaphragm 14 has a hole to permit insulated passage of a connecting member between one of the cell electrodes and contact 7.
