Abstract
1,249,424. Electro-photographic development apparatus. KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. Dec. 15, 1969 [Dec.18, 1968], No. 61092/69. Heading G2H. A toner suspension in air is blown across the surface of an electro-photographic plate 53 supported over an opening in the top of development chamber 50 enclosing a rotor 66, having a length substantially greater than its diameter, mounted on a horizontal axle so as to be partially immersed in a developer supply; comprising carrier and toner particles, in the lowermost part of chamber 50. Vanes 68 on the rotor 66 cause powder to collide with lowers 69 in channel 70 between wall surfaces 55 and 60 to separate toner particles from carrier particles, the latter falling back into the sump part of chamber 50 and the former being taken up by the air-flow created by rotor 66 or by an auxiliary fan and carried . through an aperture 54 between a guide plate 61 and chamber 50 to pass over plate 53 and thence back to rotor 66. A fan 71 is included in the return passage 72 to equalize the velocity of toner particles over plate 53 and in order to obtain a move uniform velocity profile across channel 70 further guide plates 46, Fig. 4u (not shown) may be included.
