Abstract
1,249,395. Amplifiers. BOFORS A.B. 7 March, 1969 [11 March, 1968], No. 12285/69. Heading H3T. A chopper-type amplifying arrangement comprises a first modulator 3 feeding into the input of an amplifier 5, the output of which is connected to a rectifier 6. A first feedback path is connected between the output of the amplifier 5 and input of the first modulator 3, comprising in series a first demodulator 10 and first integrating circuit 11, the first demodulator 10 receiving a drive voltage of the same frequency as that for the first modulator and of such phase that the demodulated voltage will have a polarity opposite to that of an unbalance voltage produced by the first modulator. A second feedback path is connected between the input and output of the amplifier 5, comprising in series a second demodulator 13, a second integrating circuit 14 and a second modulator 15 which is driven by a drive voltage of the same frequency as that for the first modulator, but has such a phase relative to the output voltage of the amplifier that the voltage fed from the second modulator 15 to the input of the amplifier counteracts such components of the output of the amplifier 5 as are 90 degrees out of phase with the drive voltage for the first modulator 3. In the embodiment, the input from terminal 1 is fed to the first modulator 3 via a matching unit 2, and the outputs from the first and second modulators are combined in a summing device 4. The modulators and demodulators are driven from an oscillator 8, the drive for the second modulator 15 and second demodulator 13 being applied over a 90 degree phase shifter 16. Limiters 9, 12 are interposed between the output of the amplifier and the demodulators 10, 13 respectively. The integrating circuits 11, 14 are of long timeconstant, the time constant of circuit 11 being longer than that of circuit 14. The arrangement may use transistors.
