Novel compounds of the formula wherein R and R<SP>1</SP> each represent an alkyl, alkenyl or aryl radical, X represents Cl, Br or I and n is 0, 1 or 2, are prepared by reacting (R 3 Si) 2 NLi with Y Si(R<SP>1</SP>) 2 CH 2 X, or [XCH 2 - (R<SP>1</SP>) 2 Si] 2 NLi with YSiR 3 or YSi(R<SP>1</SP>) 2 CH 2 X, wherein Y represents a halogen atom such as Br or Cl.
