Abstract

Gear-wheels, grinding and trueing teeth of.-Apparatus for grinding the teeth of gear-wheels having external or internal teeth of .semi-circular shape comprises a work-carrier F, to which the gear H is eccentrically clamped by a disk G and nut. The work-carrier is mounted for swinging movement about an axis through the centre of the tooth being operated upon to bring the whole of the tooth into operative relationship with the grinding-disk L, the latter being belt-driven and carried by a slide B working in roller guides and reciprocated to and from its operative position by a lever E. The work-carrier F is mounted on a pivoted arm I acted on by a spring to keep the work in resilient engagement with the grinding-disk. The swinging movement of the carrier F is obtained from a counterweighted handle M, and stops are provided to limit such movement. The plate F may have adjustment in the direction of its axis. A pivoted gauge and measuring-screw are provided to secure accurate adjustment of the gear-wheel on its carrier.
