[Also in Division F2] A manually-operable tool for installing blind anchor nuts by pulling an internally threaded part 53 into a body part 51 comprises a body member 11 having a handle grip 16, an annular anvil 13 for engaging the nut, an interchangeable threaded mandrel 17 positioned in the aperture of the anvil 13 and a shaft 22 reciprocable by a handle 25 between a first position in which a key 24 on the shaft 22 engages a socket 19 in the mandrel 17 to allow rotation of the mandrel by the handle 25 and a second position in which the shaft 22 is disengaged from the mandrel to allow rotation of the shaft 22 only. In operation, with the shaft 22 engaged with the mandrel 17, the mandrel 17 is screwed into the nut portion 53 by rotating the handle 25 clockwise until a serrated face 14 on the anvil engages the fastener. Thereupon, the handle 25 is further rotated clockwise through a small angle to screw the nut portion 53 towards the anvil 13, after which the shaft 22 is disengaged from the mandrel and rotated anticlockwise through the small angle to its initial position. The shaft is then pushed back into engagement with the mandrel and the steps repeated until the fastener is set. The shaft 22 may be removed from the bore of the body member 11 by giving a sharp pull on the handle 25 to cause balls 34, 35 to be retracted into a bore 36.
