Abstract
1,237,767. Nickel catalysts. SOC CHIMIQUE DE LA GRANDE PAROISSE AZOTE ET PRODUITS CHIMIQUES. 3 Sept., 1968 [12 Sept., 1967], No. 41898/68. Heading B1E. [Also in Divisions Cl and C5] A catalyst for use in fluidised bed steam reforming of hydrocarbons comprises Ni on a refractory oxide support, the particle size of the catalyst lying in the range 1 m.m. to 60Á. The Ni should comprise from 1 to 40% by wt., calculated as nickel oxide. In one example, the support consists of SiO 2 , MgO, ZrO 2 . The weight ratio MgO to ZrO 2 is in the range 1.7 to 2, and the ratio MgO to SiO 2 in the range 4.5 to 5. Alkali metal or alkaline earth metal activators may be included. In another example, the support comprises MgO (50 to 60%), Al 2 O 3 (20% at most), and CaO and ZrO 2 . Stabilising agents, e.g. oxides of Cr, Ba, K, Na, Fe and Ti may be added. In a third example, the support comprises MgO (up to 45%), Al 2 O 3 (up to 60%), CaO (below 25%) and SiO 2 (below 10%).
