Abstract

1,235,587. Microscope slides. AEROJET-GENERAL CORP. May 13, 1969 [May 27, 1968], No.24247/69. Heading G2J. A microscope slide 10, constructed of opaque plastics material, has a recessed aperture 20 to which a cover plate 26 is bonded through contact with non-hardening cement spots in pits on the recess shoulder. A specimen 60 in immersion fluid 64 adheres to the lower surface of the cover plate and is illuminated through the sub-stage lens 48, spacing pins 66 projecting therefrom keeping the lower surface of the cover plate at the desired focusing distance from the lens. The aperture 20 allows close approach of the objective lens 46. The arrangement obviates any need for refocusing the sub-stage lens on successive slides. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 8 (not shown) the side wall of the recess is formed of two parts, one vertical (33a) and one inclined (33b) and the cover plate is inserted into the body (12) by bending the body slightly.
