Abstract
1,232,043. Intra-uterine devices. R. CANEL. 11 July, 1968, No. 33244/68. Heading A5R. An intra-uterine contraceptive device comprises a resilient spiral 1 having generally conical outline 2 and provided with turns which decrease successively in size from the largest terminal turn 1a to the smallest terminal turn 1b. A generally conical member 4 having thins flexible walls is secured at one free end of the spiral at the apex there and acts as a retaining means preventing accidental ejection. An enlargement 3 integral with or secured to the free end of the turn 1a is provided to facilitate the introduction of the device by a slotted trocar &c. The spiral and the members 3, 4 are formed with smooth surfaces, the spiral advantageously being of a superpolyamide, a polyethylene or an acrylic polymer.
