A cutting tool comprises a holder 10 and an insert 17, the holder having a pocket for retaining the insert which is held in the pocket by a pin 24, the holder and the insert being provided with bores 28 and 29 respectively, the axes of which are eccentric to one another when the insert is positioned in the pocket. The pin which has a shank 25 and an enlarged head 27 connected to the shank by a necked portion is inserted shank foremost into the bore 28 in the holder and the head portion being displaced due to the eccentricity between the bores in the holder and insert, whereby the insert is urged into abutment with the shoulders of the pocket. The pin may extend through the bore in the holder so as to protrude on the side of the holder opposite to the insert pocket, and may also be provided with an axial slot 124 to permit the end portion of the shank to be opened outwardly so that when the pin is moved inwardly to permit removal of the tip the pin is wedgingly retained in the bore in the holder. A separate seating member 115 may be provided on which the insert can be located.
