Abstract

1,224,207. Anionic lactam polymerization. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 27 June, 1968 [5 July, 1967], No. 30635/68. Heading C3R. [Also in Division C2] Compounds of the formula where m is 2 to 11 are used as accelerators in the anionic polymerization of lactams. Specified lactams are pyrrolidone, piperidone, caprolactam, capryllactam, enantholactam, caprilactam, laurolactam, epsilon - ethyl - epsiloncaprolactam, zeta - ethyl - zeta - enantholactam, and methylene - bis - caprolactams. Dyes and fillers, e.g. glass, asbestos and other fibres, graphite, gypsum, chalk, molybdenum disulphide, and sawdust may be included in the polymer. Various applications of the resulting polyamide are mentioned. The preparation of caprolactam - N - carboxylic carbazolamide which is used in the examples is described (see Division C2).
