Abstract

1,221,064. Absorbing gases in liquids. KANAGAWA PREFECTURE. 6 Feb., 1968 [16 Feb., 1967], No. 5913/68. Heading B1R. In a method of absorbing a gas in a liquid liquid is caused to flow downwardly as a film over an inclined net or perforated plate extending transversely across a tower through which a gas containing one or more constituents to be absorbed is passed upwardly through the film of liquid. The thickness of the film of liquid can be varied by altering the inclination of the net or plate. Preferably the nets or plates are arranged in groups of three placed adjacent to and spaced one above the other, a liquid film being caused to flow down the lowermost net or plate of each group. Preferably a series of nets or plates are arranged in zig-zag in the tower. As shown in Fig. 1, a series of groups of three nets 8, 9 and 10 are arranged in zig-zag manner in a tower 1, gas enters at 2 and leaves at 21. Liquid is fed from a tank 12 onto the lowermost net of the uppermost group of nets and is finally withdrawn at 7. Transverse baffles 21 are arranged below the lowermost group of nets and transverse perforated baffles 4 are arranged in the spaces between groups of nets.
