121,378. Chamier, F. W., and Howard, W. F. Jan. 2, 1918. Planes, arrangement and construction of; propelling. -The aerofoils A of aeroplanes &c. are so arranged that, when the machine is on the ground or climbing, the chords of the aerofoils have an angle of incidence which is positive but less than the angle between the line of propeller thrust B and the ground, as shown in Fig. 4, so that the aerofoils have a negative incidence when the machine is in flight with the propeller thrust horizontal, as shown in Fig. 5. The aerofoils are preferably cambered so that the sine of the angle between the propeller thrust and the chords of the aerofoils is equal to the ratio of the maximum ordinate of the camber to the chord of the aerofoil.
