Abstract

1,212,506. Insulating panels against heat radiation. A. J. HOGAN. 13 Feb., 1968 [15 Feb., 1967], No. 7256/67. Heading E1J. An insulating panel against heat radiation for use with, e.g. roof lights, horticultural green houses, comprises two superimposed flat sheets or a tubular length, e.g. being of transparent or translucent resilient plastics material, e.g. polythene 250-2,000 guage, welded together along seams 14 to form juxtaposed longitudinal compartments 16, at least one transverse compartment 18 communicating with the compartments 16 and formed by welds of flat lips or flanges 10 extending transversely of the compartments 16 to close the ends of these latter, and an inflation valve 20 in a wall of the panel for inflating said compartments which on inflation form flattened or oval tubular portions. A transverse compartment may be formed intermediate the ends of the compartments 16, the outer ends being then flattened and closed to form the lips 10. Marginal flattened portions 12 may be provided parallel to the compartments 16 by welding. Further flat sheets may be welded to the lips 10, 12 for reinforcement. The lips are used for attaching the panel to the sash 'bars of a green house roof &c.
