Abstract
1,208,699. Timing ignition. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Sept.2, 1969 [Sept. 9, 1968], No.43377/ 67. Heading F1B. An ignition timing means for an internal combustion engine comprises a distributor (30) spark advance and retard vacuum servo actuator 28, first conduit means 26 connected to the servo, second conduit means 22 connected to a port in the intake manifold and valve means interconnecting the conduit means and controlling flow of fluid therethrough, the valve means including a valve body 38 secured to the engine throttle valve for movement thereof, a valve 48 variably movable within the valve body between one position connecting the first and second conduit means and a second position connecting the second conduit means to air at essentially atmospheric pressure while blocking the first conduit, means 66 connecting the valve to an operator movable accelerator means 74 and means 78 biasing the valve to the second position and operatively biasing the throttle valve to the idle speed position. Movement of the accelerator means in one direction moves the valve to the first position and operatively moves the valve body to move the throttle valve away from the idle position to increase the vacuum level to the servo.
