Abstract
1,206,587. Seats. A. C. REVELL. 21 Dec., 1967 [26 Sept., 1966], No. 42943/66. Heading A4J. In the knockdown chair, the assembly of the seat 13 and backrest 14, with the side portions 55, 56, is completed by wedging together resilient tongues 30 of opposed pairs of releasable fasteners, arranged on either side of the chair. The hinge connections 60, 59 between leg frames 50 and the seat and backrest can be permanent or, as in the case of a hinge connection between members 52 and 55, hinges 60 can be made detachable. Instead of hinges 59, 60 and leg frames 50, the side portions may be formed as chair supports (11, 12, Figs 1-3, not shown). Releasable pivotal connections (24-28, 25-33) may be formed by key-hole or L-shaped slots and in a form constructed from Cd plated tubular steel, with T-shaped slots. In order to assemble multiple seating, a modified side portion is made without an armrest (23) and with connections (24, 25 and) 30 on both sides, so that it can interconnect adjacent seats 13 and backrests 14.
