Abstract
1,202,356. Coating. BRYANT & MAY Ltd. 23 Aug., 1967 [6 Sept., 1966], No. 39782/66. Heading B2E. An article is at least partly coated with synthetic resin by applying a liquid resinous composition to a surface of the article carrying a dry solid agent which will dissolve in and penetrate the coating to cure the resin therein. The article may be a sheet of paper, cardboard, texile fabric, plastics or plastics-coated material, or a shaped article, e.g. a matchbox. The curing agent may be applied as a solution or dispersion in a film-forming material or in a solvent which can be evaporated; exemplified agents are sulphamic acid, tartaric acid, monoammonium phosphate and acidic aluminium sulphate. The agent may act at room temperature. The resincontaining composition may be aqueous or organic and may contain particulate material. Specified resins are intermediate condensates of formaldehyde with melamine, phenol or urea. The composition may be applied by rollers or brushes.
