Abstract

1,202,150. Spray producers. EATON YALE & TOWNE Inc. 21 Aug., 1968 [18 Sept., 1967], No. 40052/68. Heading B2F. [Also in Division F2] Apparatus for generating a liquid particle suspension in a gaseous carrier comprises a source of pressurised gas, a housing 30 in communication with the source and defining a vortex chamber 32 having an inlet 34 and outlet 36 wherein pressurised gas supplied to the inlet is transformed into helicoconically flowing, high velocity gas at the outlet, a source of liquid in communication with the outer periphery of the helicoconically flowing, high velocity gas adjacent the outlet of the vortex chamber, and means 50 defining an interaction chamber adjacent to and communicating with the outlet wherein the liquid is aerolised by the helicoconically flowing, high velocity gas. The gas may be supplied to the vortex chamber through tangential inlets 34, and the liquid, particularly lubricant from a reservoir may be in aspirational communication with the gas at radial or tangential inlets 70 or an annular inlet, disposed between the vortex chamber and the interaction zone 37. Means may be provided for condensing large particles and recirculating them via the reservoir.
