Abstract

1,200,696. Packaging portable containers. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc. 8 March, 1968 [9 March, 1967], No. 11431/68. Headings B8C, B8D and B8P. A polygonal apertured tray, supporting containers 14 by their rims, has flaps 24 (Fig. 3) with an axial height smaller than the containers to allow the rims to disengage from the tray top 22 when the tray rests on a surface. In the form shown, octagonal thermoplastic containers 14 have thickheat-sealedlids 20 which may be gripped or bent downwardly to aid removal and avoid contamination of the pouring surfaces. During transportation, the units are held in place by a lid 16 (Fig. 2) having tabs 38 which engage underneath flaps 26 (Fig. 1, not shown). The lid and tray may be made of paperboard or cardboard.
