Abstract

1,198,300. Coated sheet material. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 22 Dec., 1966, No. 55259/67. Divided out of 1,188,796. Heading B2E. A resilient sheet material comprises a layer of cellular elastomeric material in crumb form in a foamed liquid binder bonded to a backing sheet of bonded fibre fabric. The fibres may be bonded with a resin or may be fibres of a thermoplastic material which have been fused together. The fibres may be of natural or "manmads" fibres. Exemplified are polyamides, polyesters or polyacrylonitrile or mixtures of these, viscose rayon and wool. Particularly specified is a mixture of thermoplastic fibres, viscose rayon and wool bonded together with a rubbery acrylic resin. Fabrics of density 1 to 3 ounces per square yard are specified. The foamed liquid binder may be a frothed vulcanisable rubber latex composition and the crumbs may be of polyurethane and may be mixed with rubber tyre crumb. A fibrous pile may 'be applied to the cellular elastomeric material or to the bonded fabric to form a carpet.
