Abstract

[Also in Divisions B2 and G2-G3] An imaging member comprises a conductive support bearing a softenable layer which has a surface skin and bears a fracturable layer, the skin having a viscosity higher than that of the softenable layer and either the softenable layer or the fracturable layer being photoconductive. The softenable layer may be a photoconductive resin or an insulating resin optionally containing a photoconductor. The fracturable layer may be composed of a photoconductor (e.g. Se or a photoconductive dye) or particles of a non- photoconductor (e.g. iron oxide or TiO 2 ). The surface skin is preferably below 0À35 Á thick and formed by exposing the intermediate layer to, for example, U.V. or a coronadischarge, by coating with a resin, or by incorporating a resin in the coating used to form the intermediate layer.
