Abstract
1196033 Detecting presence electrically D F C CRAWLEY 12 Sept 1968 [25 July 1967] 34104/67 Index G4N 4D N6DX N1C1 N3C A device for sensing the presence of a liquid in a non-conductive tube comprises a sensing capacitor C2, in which one electrode is in the form of a spring clip for gripping the tube, connected into the circuit shown in Fig.1. An adjustable capacitance C2 is adjusted to balance the circuit so that in the absence of liquid at capacitor C2 no current flows in the load RL. When liquid is present at capacitor C2, the circuit becomes unbalanced and current flows in the load RL. The device may be enclosed in a metallic housing (not shown) in which two coaxial holes are provided for the tube. The housing may serve as the other electrode of the sensing capacitor. The clip electrode and the housing may be coated with inculator material.
