Abstract

1,194,323. Coating compositions. W. J. BRADLEY. 7 June, 1967 [8 June, 1966], No. 25562/66. Heading C3B. Coating compositions contain leafing glass flakes mixed with an organic polymer or resin and a solvent. The leafing glass flakes may have, as leafing agent, a coating of a higher fatty acid such as stearic or palmitic. The organic polymer or resin may be an epoxy, alkyd, phenolic, vinyl, acrylic, polyester, polyurea or polyurethane resin or a synthetic rubber. In Example 1 a coating composition was prepared by adding a mixture of titanium dioxide, magnesium and aluminium silicates, leafing glass flakes, tinting pigments, polyamine, and aromatic amines in xylol to an epoxy resin composition.
