Abstract

1,194,104. Reciprocating pumps. AEROSOL INVENTIONS & DEVELOPMENT S.A. Aug.22, 1968 [Oct. 26, 1967], No.40103/68. Heading F1A. In a pump-type dispenser assembly comprising a screw cap 4, a pump assembly and an overcap 14, the caps have co-operable splines, by means of which they engage and allow the overcap to act as a socket wrench for screwing the screw cap into the neck of a container. The overcap, which is fitted before screwing the assembly into the container to avoid inadvertant operation of the pump, has splines 18 formed internally on a rim 17, and splines 19 are formed externally on cap 4; the splines are tapered, and one set is thinner than the other to facilitate assembly Figs. 4, 5 (not shown). The assembly may be fitted mechanically to the container by a driving head (22) having a non-slip liner (24) Fig. 1 (not shown). In another embodiment Fig. 6(not shown) the screw cap (4) is connected by frangible webs (26) to an actuater button (27) attached to the pump plunger (10) forming a tamper-proof feature. Similar tamper-proof features are described with reference to Figs 7 and 8 (not shown).
