Abstract
1,193,248. Luminescent materials. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 24 Dec., 1968 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 61232/68. Heading C4S. [Also in Division H1] A fluorescent coating in a lamp having a nominal rated current of 0À8 to 1À5 amps. and comprising coil electrodes sealed in an envelope containing mercury and an ionizable inert gas consists of a first layer 3 comprising manganese activated magnesium fluorogermanate having a thickness of 5 to 30 Áand a second layer 4 consisting of calcium halophosphate activated by Sb and Mn having a thickness of 5 to 20 Á. Manganese activated mangesium boroarsenate and/or manganese activated magnesium arsenate may be added to the first layer provided that the manganese activated magnesium fluorogermanate accounts for at least 10% by weight of the total. The inert gas may be a mixture of 5% by volume He 38% Ne and 57% A in an extra high output lamp, or A alone in a high output lamp. Auxiliary plate electrodes 5 are provided in association with the coil electrodes.
