Abstract

1,192,423. Fired clay products; clay compositions. INSTITUT DER FEUERFESTINDUSTRIE. 30 May, 1967, No. 24923/67. Headings C1A and C1J. A material suitable for firing to produce an acid-resistant fired clay product consists of raw kaolin and fired and ground raw kaolin and optionally quartz; or raw kaolin and broken porcelain; or raw kaolin and broken porcelain and fired and ground raw kaolin and optionally quartz; or raw kaolin and sand; or acid-resistant clay (as defined) (with or without raw kaolin) and fired and ground raw kaolin with or without quartz and/or broken porcelain; the broken porcelain when used being 20-70 wt. per cent of the material. By raw kaolin is meant kaolin in the natural untouched and unwashed state in which it is obtained from the pit. The material may be prepared for firing by the plastic process, the non-plastic process or a combined process (as defined).
