Abstract

1,181,666. Road vehicle mud flaps. PIRELLI Ltd. 28 April, 1967 [22 June, 1966], No. 27807/66. Heading B7J. A mud flap comprises a sheet of elastomer (examples given) having a single marginal portion (by which the flap is fixed directly to a road vehicle, without employing any other device for strengthening or mounting) in which the elastomer is cured to a greater degree of hardness than the rest of the sheet, the single marginal portion being chemically bonded to the rest of the sheet. Holes may be formed in the single marginal portion during vulcanization or curing. The sheet may comprise two different elastomers bonded together by curing.
