Abstract
1,172,365. Gear-cutting. SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO. 1 Nov., 1966, No. 34421/66. Headings B3K and B3L. A milling, planing or grinding machine for generating or form-cutting gears comprises a cam 75 contacted by the end of a lever 76 for controlling movements of the tool or work, the pivot point of the lever being mounted on a fixed member for adjustment along the length of the lever. The cutter 13 on a spindle 12 is carried on a cradle 3. The work 9 is adjustably carried by an axially-movable slide 5, an angularly adjustable slide (7) and a laterally-adjustable head 11. The cutter is rotated by a motor 18 through a clutch 19. A motor 32 drives a swash-plate pump 35 to drive a variable-speed motor 40 to provide the cradle and work-head movements. The workhead drive is connected to the cradle drive by a pinion 43 which is removed if the work is to be indexed by a device 31 for form-cutting. The indexing device 31 includes a differential 57. The lever 76 is slotted and is mounted on a pin 77, adjustable laterally against a scale (91). The lever controls the swash-plate pump 35 through a cylinder 96 carrying stops 106, 104, formed with rack teeth engaging a pinion 38 to rotate the swash-plate. The stop 106 is adjustable against a scale 108 to determine the initial speed of generation and the angle through which the swash-plate is turned is determined by the cam 75 and the adjustment of the pin77. Fluid pressure is supplied to a line 115 to hold the lever against the cam 75 or to a line 117 to move the lever away from the cam to produce a fast return movement at a speed determined by a stop nut 120 engaging the cylinder 96. A screw 123 locks the lever 76 during adjustments. Mounted on a shaft 136 for angular adjustment with the cam 75 is a cam 128 which can be used for rough-cutting. The shaft is rotated from a gear 42 through change gears 141, 142 which determine which portions of the cam profiles are to be operative. Stops on a disc 147 control the cutting and indexing movements. In-and-out movements of the head 11 are determined by cams 155, 156 through a lever 157 and a piston 72 associated with an hydraulic follow-up device 74. Fast withdrawal of the head is effected by a piston 160. A tachometer 161, Fig. 7, can be engaged with a drive gear 168 by a knob 171 to obtain indication of the speed of movement at any time.
