[Also in Division B7] An oil tanker is converted for the carrying of bulk material such as sugar by the provision of a tarpaulin flooring 3 in the centre tanks 1. Pipes 8 comprising sections 11 joined at flanges 12 are provided supported by members 9 above the flooring 3 and having closure caps 10. Loading is effected by conveyers through throats 5 and is assisted by vibrators 13 which prevent caking of the sugar. During transport the outer tanks are filled with water, the throats 5 are closed and the tanks 1 pressurized so that the temperature and humidity of the cargo can be controlled. The cargo can be ventilated when the conditions of the external air is suitable by removing the caps 10 and operating the vibrators 13. Unloading is effected by inserting suction hoses into the tubes 8 while operating the vibrators 13.
