Abstract

1,169,428. Sawing. AVEN TOOLS Ltd. 21 March, 1968 [6 June, 1967], No. 26088/67. Heading B5L. A hand saw comprises a handle 10, a removable blade 11 capable of pivoted movement in its own plane relative to the handle to locate the blade in any one of a plurality of positions, a removable cover plate 20 which sandwiches one end of the blade between opposing faces 30, 31 on the cover plate and a part of the handle, interengaging means 17, 18, 19 between the blade and the handle and/or the cover plate for positively locking the blade in each of the said positions, and a locking screw 12 for holding the cover plate, blade and handle together. The handle is of polypropylene and is formed with the face 30 in which a nut 15 is provided for receiving the screw 12 and recesses 19 for receiving spigots 18 extending from the face 30 of the cover plate which may be of nylon. The blade has a hole 32 for the passage of the screw 12 and about which it is pivoted to position s determined by engagement of apertures or notches 17 with the spigots 18. The length of the screw is such that it can be slackened to permit pivoted adjustment of the blade whilst retaining the cover plate on the handle. The teeth of the blade are graded in sets, each set having progressively less teeth in a direction towards the handle.
