Abstract

1,166,341. Ventilating buildings. GREENWOOD AIRVAC VENTILATION Ltd. 6 Dec., 1967 [20 Jan., 1967], No. 3124/67. Heading F4V. An air extraction unit for simultaneously ventilating two rooms in a building comprises a housing having a cover 2 and base-plate 1 mounted in a first room, an air inlet 5 at each end of the cover 2 and an air inlet in the plate 1 on the left-hand side, as shown, of a web 3, at least one of the inlets communicating directly or via ducting with a second room, and an outlet 12 served by a centrifugal fan 14 and communicating with an air discharge duct or a weathered outlet. The outlet 12 is considerably larger than the adjacent inlet in the plate 1 which inlet itself communicates with the fan 14 via an opening in the web 3, through which passes the fan spindle from an electric motor 17. The inlets 5 are formed in slides 6, the righthand side inlet being staggered with respect to the inlet of fan 14, and the slides 6 may be replaced by slides 8 with tubular spigots 9 or by plain slides 7. The inlet in the plates, which may be formed when required, by pressing a diaphragm therefrom, is provided with a tubular spigot fixed to the plate 1 or carried by a slide, in which case it is replaceable by a plain slide. The fan motor 17 may be activated by a timing device which itself can be operated by a light switch.
