Abstract

1,165, 592. Photographic roll printing machine. AGFA-GEVAERT A. G. Sept. 26, 1967 [Sept. 29, 1966], No. 43766/67. Heading G2A. A photographic roll printing machine for printing light-sensitive material in strip form, in which the strip material being printed is intermittently advanced in a stepwise manner, has a single manual control knob 2 for adjusting the length of the advancing step of strip material and for simultaneously adjusting the mask to control the border width of pictures to be printed, the control knob being permanently connected to the advancing step adjustment and being disconnectable from the adjustment for the border width so that the step length and border width may be varied with respect to each other. In Fig. 1, control knob 2 is connected via hollow shaft 3, pinions 7 and 9 and dog clutch 11, 12 to a shaft carrying a gear-wheel 17 which adjusts the mask for varying the border width. Knob 2 is also connected via hollow shaft 3 and pinions 7 and 8 to an adjustment 20 for varying the step length. Knob 2 as shown is in a locked position, the locking pin 32 being obstructed. When knob 2 is pushed in, after freeing pawl 29, locking pin 32 is disengaged and the hollow shaft 3 slides along shaft 12 and moves the switching fork 14 against spring 25 to lift member 16a against spring 13 and thus to disengage the dog clutch 11, 12 and to disconnect the border width adjustment. Pushing knob 2 in also frees the recessed disc 22 from pin 23 since shaft 21 does not move axially, and knob 2 can then be rotated to vary the step length adjustment 20 without altering the border width. To alter the border width and step length simultaneously but retaining their relative adjustment, the knob 2 is pulled out, locking pin 32 again being disengaged, the shaft 21 pulling recessed disc 26 free from pin 27 and enabling knob 2 to rotate and operate both the border width adjustment 17 and the step length adjustment 20. The recessed discs may be replaced by spring- actuated friction couplings to obtain continuously graduated adjustments.
