Abstract

1,161,970. Choline-chloride compositions. KONINKLIJKE INDUSTRIEELE MAATSCHAPPIJ NOURY & VAN DER LANDE N.V. 14 March, 1968 [17 March, 1967], No. 12535/68. Heading C2C. A process for preparing a dry, free-flowing, non-hydroscopic composition containing choline-chloride comprises preparing, in an aqueous choline-chloride solution, a finely-divided alkali metal salt of a fatty acid and subsequently drying the resultant mixture. Preferably the composition contains 0À25 kg. of fatty acid alkali metal salt per kg. of choline-chloride, and may be prepared by adding the desired fatty acid to a vigorously stirred aqueous choline-chloride solution and subsequently adding sodium or potassium hydroxide such that the pH is adjusted to about 8. The fatty acids desirably contain 14-20 carbon atoms.
