Abstract
1,160,905. Concrete piles. L. MUELLER. 2 Nov., 1966 [4 Nov., 1965], No. 49132/66. Heading E1H. A foundation pile comprises an outer layer of a flowable liquid settable compound 4 cast in situ and an inner core composed at least in part of a filler material which may be or may include concrete. In the embodiment illustrated the inner core is formed in the inner space of a sleeve-like shaft body 2 which is filled with filler material during pile driving, after ramming or during the withdrawal of the shaft body. The liquid settable compound 4 may be thin cement mortar preferably supplied under pressure, or cement mortar or settable plastics material and the filler material may be concrete or sand. The pile tip 1 is of greater width than the shaft body 2 and in this embodiment it remains in the ground. In another embodiment the sleevelike shaft body has an open fixed wide pile tip and the whole assembly remains in the ground, the accumulated soil being removed prior to formation of the inner core. In a further embodiment a prefabricated pillar inserted in the sleeve-like shaft forms the core.
