Abstract

1,159,021. Baking tins. E. MERCER. 8 April, 1968, No. 46470/64. Heading A4A. [Also in Division B2] A baking 'tin' formed from fibre glass having applied thereto a thermo-setting resin is coated with silicone rubber, polyvinyl organo polysiloxane or polytetrafluoroethylene to provide a non-sticking surface to receive dough in the baking of bread and confectionery. The coating maybe of fluorinated siloxane polymers or polytetrafluoroethylene applied by a hot moulding process. The 'tin' may be formed of fibre glass, or a woven or needle felt of fibre glass, which may be layered or laminated to any required thickness and shaped or moulded to that of the required 'tin'. The 'tin' may be reinforced with thread or metal thread wound around the 'tin'. The fibre glass may be treated by passing through a gas flame or heating to above 360‹ so that it contains a minimum of size and is then treated with a primer. The thermo-setting resin may be an epoxy resin, polyoxymethylene, silicone elastomer, polyamide, a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene, and high temperature polyester providing any styrene content is removed, or a high density butyl polystyrene. Polytetrafluoroethylene may be incorporated in or applied to the silicone rubber.
