Abstract

1,157,417. Cutting appliances. ROBERTS CONSOLIDATED INDUSTRIES, Inc. 10 April, 1968 [28 April, 1967], No. 17393/68. Heading B4B. A tool for trimming the edge portion 14 of cushion back carpeting 12 comprises a blade cutting attachment 20 having a base 24, a blade holder 26 and an adjusting device 28, the base having a rear portion 30 connected to a handle mechanism 22, the base having connected thereto a plate 58 which carries a pair of cutting blades 60, 61 at an acute angle relative to, and over the front of, the base, the holder 26 being connected to the base portion 30 by means of pivots 54, and the height of the holder 26 relative to the base being adjusted by means of the device 28 which comprises a threaded stud 64, a coil spring (66), Fig. 3 (not shown) and a wing nut 68. The tool has an upstanding guide flange 38. The handle mechanism 22 includes an upwardly extending handle 52. The blades 60, 61 are supported on top of the plate 58 by means of a device 74 which comprises diverging channels 76 and 78, a cover plate 80 and a pair of hand adjustable set screws 82 and 84, the arrangement being such that, in use, only one of the blades is in the cutting position.
