Abstract
1,148,024. Sampling bulk material. MASCHINENFABRIK SANGERHAUSEN VEB. 14 Nov., 1967, No. 51748/67. Heading B8N. A device for sampling bulk material comprises a tube 5 having closure means 15 mounted on the end of the tube which is arranged to be thrust into the material, the tube being arranged to be releasably connected to an ejector 6 by means of an expandable catch 7, 8, 9 so that the tube and ejector may be either moved independently or together by means of a piston-and-cylinder device 1, 2, 3. The catch device comprises plungers 8, 9 are loaded outwardly by a spring 7 and provided with rollers 10 adapted to run on the wall of the tube. The plungers are normally engaged in bores 11, 12 in the tube so that when the piston 2 is actuated and the closure means opened the tube is thrust into the bulk material. The closure means are then closed and the tube raised until the plungers are aligned with plungers 13, 14 which, upon actuation of piston devices, move into the bores 11, 12 thereby forcing the plungers 8 out of engagement with the bores; the ejector can then be moved downwardly to eject the sample after the closure means have been opened.
