Abstract
1,147,923. Mounting a semi-conductor chip on a substrate. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 23 May, 1966 [27 May, 1965(3)], No. 22829/66. Heading H1K. The subject-matter of the Specification is contained in Specification 1,147,924, but the claims relate to an apparatus for mounting an article on a substrate arranged to move past a placement station, comprising a plurality of pick-up heads rotatably mounted about a common axis and each head arranged to carry an article from a pick-up station to said placement station, sensing means associated one with each pick-up head for indicating whether or not its associated head is carrying an article, and switching means responsive on receipt of an indication from a sensing means that an article is missing from its pick-up head to give a signal for delaying departure of a substrate from the placement station until a head carrying an article has arrived at the placement station. The specific embodiment relates to placing semi-conductor chips on conductive strips on an alumina substrate.
