Abstract

1,147,601. Impulse transmitters. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 30 March, 1966 [30 March, 1965; 28 Aug., 1965], Nos. 13322/65 and 37081/65. Heading H4K. In an impulse transmitter having a rotatable impulse cam 5, the impulse-contact-operating cam follower 12 is of unitary construction one end of which is fixed to the body of the transmitter while the other end is free to ride on the cam in such a way that during wind-up of the dial the cam follower is moved away from the impulse contacts 15, 16 but during the return motion is moved into engagement therewith so as to actuate them in accordance with the digit selected by the operator. The cam follower is made of a resilient plastics material and it is caused to flex about a fixed post 14a during wind-up. A lost motion period is provided by the movement of the cam follower during the initial portion of the return motion. The governor 11 is driven through a one-way spring clutch 9 (Fig. 1, not shown) and a gear train 6, 8, 10. The main gear 4, impulse cam 5 and the dial shaft (1) are of integral plastics construction. The off-normal contacts 28, 29 are closed by posts 24, 25 on a radially slidable plate 23 when the latter is allowed to move inwardly by the " removal " of a post 22 during wind-up. All the contact spring sets are located in position by pegs 30 moulded in the base and are retained in these positions by screws 21 which also serve as electrical terminals. The dial assembly base-plate is moulded in such a way that, in conjunction with the dial shaft, a dust free enclosure for the moving parts is obtained.
