Abstract

1,138,267. Aryl-alkali metal addition compounds. DOW CHEMICAL CO. 13 Sept., 1967, No. 41824/67. Heading C2J. [Also in Division C3] Sodium alpha-methyl styrene trimer to hexamer is prepared by reacting alphamethylstyrene with potassium in the presence of anthracene and tetrahydrofuran, and adding a dispersion of sodium particles in decalin. The principal product is the tetramer with the alkali metal on each terminal carbon atom.
